Dr. Cheryl Gholar is passionate in her belief that all students can learn, regardless of socioeconomic status or negative learning labels. She is an expert in building networks and partnerships and bringing together urban, suburban, and rural school communities to share what works as they strive to build lives and mold futures. Dr. Gholar spent more than two decades as a teacher, counselor, guidance coordinator, and administrator with Chicago Public Schools and is now a Community and Economic Development Educator with the University of Illinois Extension.

Dr. Gholar has co-authored several books and is an excellent speaker and presenter. She has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the American School Counselor’s Association Award and the Outstanding Service to the Profession of School Counseling. Dr. Gholar holds a B.S. in Education and a M.S. in Counseling from Western Illinois University. She earned her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Loyola University.
